Evan L. Head

Growing up in a small town in Ohio full of cornfields, Evan Head had the values of community and selflessness instilled in him from an early age.

“Community is important, always trying to come together to help people who might be poorer, help people be able to get food on their tables, and make sure every kid has equipment if they want to participate in sports,” Evan said.

When Evan was in middle school, a flood ravaged his hometown. He, alongside his family and community, did what they could to help townspeople who had experienced the devastation.

“There was just a lot of cleaning up, trying to help make sure people are safe, and the community coming together around the loss,” he said.

Eventually, Evan left his small town and headed to Athens, Ohio for college.

“The funny thing is, I never thought I’d be an attorney. I didn't know what degree I wanted or what I wanted to do in life,” Evan said of his 19-year-old self.

During his time at Ohio University, Evan often felt lost, unsure of what to study and how he could make an impact in this world. But after entering law school at the University of Cincinnati, Evan landed an internship with the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati, working specifically in their housing department. Here, Evan helped impoverished clients who normally would be unable to hire an attorney deal with landlords trying to evict them and other housing issues. In a blink, Evan went from being a lost kid on campus to living out his purpose.

“You get that case that you feel good about the work that you're doing, and it gives some meaning to the time that we have here,” Evan said. “I think Legal Aid was the first place that was a real eye opener for me.”

Now, Evan still walks in his purpose, utilizing his background in legal aid work and his small-town communal values to help him today as he tackles a variety of cases.

“I enjoy the fight for my clients,” Evan said. “My background was legal aid, and getting to help people in those environments, that’s fun. We're kind of just continuing that work here at MLJ.”

Evan is a problem solver and relentlessly breaks down complicated cases to solve each problem. When working with Evan, clients can expect to be met with small-town charm to go with his big city work product.

“I care for people in my life as much as I can,” Evan said. “I think that’s one of the reasons people hire us, we’re going to bring that compassion for all our clients.”

Today, Evan spends most of his time at the firm busy researching and learning new case material and working with clients to ensure they feel welcomed, valued and safe at MLJ and in the communities the firm serves.

“It just feels good to have a job where I'm going to be making a difference in some way,” Evan said.
