J. Jeffrey Landen

Federal courts, state courts and arbitration proceedings all have their particular idiosyncrasies.  But the common threads in almost all civil disputes are a search for the truth about the facts, and the application of often complex legal principles to whatever happened.

Those who take advantage of others employ a wide variety of schemes and strategies to cover up what they have done.  Even with more than 35 years of practical experience in litigation and alternative dispute resolution, Jeff still cannot say that “I’ve seen ‘em all” – but he's seen a lot.  There are few truly new things under the sun: the subject matters and the technologies change, but unscrupulous human behaviors still fall into familiar patterns that can be exposed through diligent discovery.

The members of Murphy Landen Jones have been practicing together for many years, and he finds that the continuity as an ongoing team is beneficial – especially when the opposing party is represented by numerous attorneys who have been assigned to work together on the case by huge multi-city or international law firms.  Large dollar amounts at stake are not daunting to this  team, and big law firms defending our opponents are not intimidating.

We place great value on our teamwork, and we seek to prove the adage “the bigger they are the harder they fall.”

Jeff grew up in a multi-generational family business in the Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area.  That taught him what it is like to own a problem and to own its solution. He was the first person in his immediate family to graduate from college, despite some outrageous impediments that life threw his way. That taught Jeff the importance of persistence.  For over three decades, he worked on a wide variety of litigation matters at a large law firm. That taught him the value of flexibility. Throughout his legal career, he has become familiar with the numerous ways that cheaters and bullies take advantage of others in their business dealings and relationships – and how they attempt to rationalize, justify and cover up what they have done.  At Murphy Landen Jones, he has dedicated the bulk of his practice to standing up for the rights of those who find themselves the victims of broken promises, unfair treatment and outright fraud.
